Foundation pier system

explaining foundation pier systems

What Is A Pier?

A Foundation Pier is a steel cylinder that is staged undeath your homes Footing and driven down to bedrock or dense soil to assist in establishing proper support for the weight of your home.

There is a variety of Foundation Piers or Foundation Piles on the market ranging from Helical Piers, to basic Concrete Piles.

At DLN Solutions, we utilize a Steel Cylinder, Centric, Pier System that is built to last for a lifetime, thus, our Lifetime Warranty that we include in all installations.

Centric Vs Eccentric

Centric Pier Systems have been utilized on homes for decades now and have stood the test of time.  A Centric Pier System is installed by excavating underneath your homes footing, keeping the entire footing intact and up to code.

Eccentric Pier Systems are installed excavating around your homes footing, applying a bracket to the footing and breaking away the footing in the process, which we, and various Structural Engineers do not agree with as intentionally breaking a footing will lead to greater damage in the long term.

What to look for

Observe And Report

To continue our promise to our Homeowners or Prospective Homeowners, we've complied a list of things to monitor when you believe you may have a Sunken or Sinking Foundation:

  • Windows / Doors Jammed Or Sticking
  • Cracks Forming In Basement Walls
  • Chimney Starting To Lean
  • Soil Settlement Around Your Foundation
  • Uneven Floors Or Floor Joists
  • Cracks Forming In Drywall / Sheet Rock

We've found that each home in and around Kansas City is unique and may display various symptoms when it comes to Sunken or Sinking Foundations.

Natural Vs Unnatural Settlement

It's important to note that Settlement around your home is natural.  Structures built 60 years ago are prone to settlement in some form or another.

Our Project Liaisons will utilize a series of laser levels and tape measures to determine if your home needs our Foundation Pier System.

If your Project Liaison identifies any portion of your home that has settled greater than a half-inch, they may recommend our Foundation Pier System.
